Crash and Burn

Yesterday was so exciting - I heard the doorbell ring and went to see who it was. Instead of a person I found this wonderful package from Crash and Burn Apparel!

In it was this beautiful dress and this wonderful t-shirt. The dress is so soft and the tee is so comfortable. I can't wait to wear them more. I never want to take either of them off! Their website is just incredible, filled with beautiful clothes. Please check it out yourself! Don't forget - use the promo code MLOIS to get 20% off your order today!

Both shirts are thrifted, the heels are from urbanog.com, the combat boots and socks are from Urban Outfitters, sunglasses from Charming Charlie, dress can be bought here and the tee here.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Today was SO HOT. I'm already tired of the summer heat - I don't know what I'll do when summer actually gets here and it's 100+ degrees. I suppose I'll go swimming. A lot.

Or I'll just hide inside where there's air conditioning - probably the more likely option!

My obsession with bralets and crop tops is showing through with this outfit - and my obsession with Urban Outfitters shows too! I'm too predictable. Anyways, the bralet is from UO, you can get it here in a tan color. I'd had my eye on it for awhile and I finally caved and bought it. So happy!

I bought the skirt about a year ago at a thrift store when I was going through a midi/maxi skirt phase. The belt is also from a thrift store in my neighborhood. Again, I'm so predictable. I promise I'll wear something more exciting and less thrifted soon. (Not that thrifted clothes aren't exciting - they're so incredibly exciting! I love them!)

On that note, I'm going to go to sleep. It's been a long and tiring day.

I'm in St. Louis visiting my sister today, so these photos are from yesterday - it's strange how different Eastern Missouri is from Kansas City. Everything is faster - the people, the drivers. I like this city a lot, but I love the feel of Kansas City - people are so incredibly friendly, and everything is so laid back, which is where I get my personality from, I suppose. Kansas City will always be home, no matter how in love I fall with other cities (like New York and Dublin - my other two homes).

Another place that seems like a second home for me is Urban Outfitters. I have a serious shopping problem whenever I enter a UO store. It doesn't matter if I have money or not, I WILL buy something, which is how I've acquired most of what I'm wearing in these photos, and how I acquired two new tops today, which you will see soon!

The top, dress and sandals are all from UO, everything else is thrifted, gifts or vintage.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Stay stylish, and listen to this awesome band:

Meditation Corner

I've spent the last few days putting together this wonderful meditation corner in my room. I was feeling a little bit too controlled by the internet and technology, so I decided to put away my laptop for an entire day (and I lasted for most of it - I'm shocked!) I thought I might be slightly more productive without it, and I suppose I was, a bit - I went running for the first time in a long time, read some, put this wonderful corner together, meditated a lot, spent way too much money, and spent way too much time playing hide and seek with my cats. I think the day was a success, anyway. At least I have something to show for it.

Anyways, now I'm in bed wondering what cats dream about - because the cat in the photo, Butterscotch, is asleep next to me and she's making a strange clicking noise that I've never heard before. Is she dreaming of snacking on a mouse? A bird? Is she grooming herself? If only I knew! I suppose dreams, particularly the dreams of animals, will remain one of life's biggest mysteries - for now.

I made the shorts cut-offs recently and I'm very pleased with how they turned out - I've been destroying way too many pairs of shorts lately - they're going to end up all looking the same!

What I'm wearing: shorts: thrifted, DIY, combat boots: urban outfitters, sweater and bag: thrifted, jewelry: vintage, forever 21

And here's a song from one of my favorite bands:

Overalls

I bought these overalls at the Salvation Army in my town a few days ago - they were brand new but incredibly old - so dusty! I had to wash them twice before they felt like actual denim, but SO WORTH IT. I love them so much. They fit perfectly and they are just so beautiful. Sigh. I have a habit of getting obsessed over a certain item of clothing and buying a million until I don't even know what to do with them all, and I have a feeling overalls will be next (After I finish with my current obsession - crop tops/bralets). I don't know that I could ever bring myself to buy a new pair of overalls - I like the vintage feel to thrifted ones. They're more authentic, I guess. I love how they feel and look - they're just perfect <3

What I'm wearing: Overalls: thrifted, platform sandals: Urban Outfitters, bandeau: Forever 21, sunglasses: Charming Charlie

And here's some Bob Dylan for your ears:

Meow!

I spent my morning doing yardwork for my mom (yawn). Anyways, here's what I'm wearing. Everything other than the socks, shorts and vest is thrifted. The socks are from Penneys and I've had the vest for years and years and have no idea where it came from. The shorts are from urban outfitters, and I regretted buying them right away, as I could obviously have thrifted a pair for about $20 cheaper. Oh well, they're nice enough.

I'm clearly obsessed with lipstick - I think my face looks weird without it. I have too many colors to know what to do with, and I'm always collecting more. If anyone knows where to get a wonderful color similar to this:

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE. It's beautiful!

And here's some music I'm obsessing over for you:

nah, just kidding. Sort of. Here's something you might not have heard though:

I love Anna Ternheim so much. Her voice is captivating and her music is just SO GOOD.

May 18

I'm so excited for the new Beach House album, Bloom - it came out just a few days ago, and it is supposed to be amazing! I haven't gotten around to listening to it quite yet, but this is a single from the album. They are wonderful <3

Yesterday I dip dyed a pair of shorts that I've had forever and I really like how they turned out! I ended up wearing them today! I also wore one of the items that I thrifted yesterday - an amazing oversized shirt. I just love the pattern on it so much:

What I'm wearing: shorts: thrifted/DIY, shirt and belt: thrifted, shoes and top: urban outfitters, jewelry: gifts and thrifted

St Vincent

So here we go, St. Vincent was my first concert of the summer, and it was incredible! Annie Clark has to be the most beautiful woman in the world. She's insanely pretty (if you don't believe me just click here), and she's AMAZING live. If given the chance, GO SEE HER. I had the privilege of seeing her play in her hometown, Tulsa. I hadn't been to Tulsa since I was a child, and I loved it. The people are so friendly and stylish and the city is a really nice size. Shearwater, a band from Austin, was the opening act, and they were also very good live. It was a wonderful night.

And here's my outfit of the day: I went thrifting today and found these sandals for $3. (I believe they're from forever 21 but I could be mistaken) I also bought some other neat things that I can't wait to wear!

It seems like every time I wear platform sandals anywhere I get an incredible amount of comments on my height. (I'm 5'10 normally). I had 3 people say how tall I was today - strange!

what I'm wearing: shirt, bag, shoes: thrifted, dress: awear, socks: forever 21, necklace: random store in Barcelona
